How sad is it...

...that I'm more excited about the arrival of this and this, than of this?

Well, they are a lot prettier, not to mention more cheerful!

There aren't any bookstores with English books around you? Does it cost a fortune to have stuff shipped to Europe? We only used Amazon once, and we had to do priority shipping because it was for a gift. For that order, the books were $75 and the shipping was about the same. Ouch. Usually, I limit myself to whatever I can find here, and in the summer when we go to the U.S., I bring a list with me and buy all the books I've been hearing about all year.

Sandra, we do have a decent English bookstore here, but the English books are so expensive here that if I'm making a big order even with the shipping it's often cheaper to do Amazon. If I can find the books through Amazon.de then the shipping is free, but sometimes it's still cheaper to have them shipped from the States. How crazy is that?? We don't necessarily go to the States every year, so I can't wait for the next trip for a book run. Well, I could but I'm such a bookie that I can't.

I'd looked and looked for these baby books (in German) in the stores here - I like them because they use actual pictures of object and not cartoon pictures - but could never find them so I just ended up ordering them, and since I was ordering from Amazon anyway I threw in a book for myself.

Boy do I miss bookstores!

Have to admit that the constant publicity has made me curious about In Cold Blood. Please let us know what you think of it-- I might have to break down and order it as well.

PS- Have you tried Amazon.co.uk? They don't have everything and their descriptions are really lacking, but shipping time is fast and the prices aren't bad. I usually shop on Amazon.com but then order from the UK one...
