Department of inefficiency

I received this box from Amazon the other day.

This book was in it.

Just that book.

Let's see that again.

Box.

Book.

Box.

Book.

Maybe I should put something in the frame for a point of reference.

Box.

Book.

Amazon. Dude. I ordered, like, fourteen books. You couldn't have fit another one in there?

Oh. My. God.

I can hear sounds of trees everywhere weeping and the chainsaws going to work.

That's madness.

Apparently Amazon is not Swiss?
;-)

Love the cow, btw.

And I bet it came with a big piece of inflated plastic to keep the book from moving around.

i guess at least they didnt stuff it full of packing peanuts (or did they?), that air filled plastic bag stuff is pretty good.

amazon seems so hit and miss, sometimes i get things in those clever cardboard book packages, the ones that sort of just fold over the book to form a box and dont even require any packing material, and sometimes it is the giant box thing.

Oddly enough, it's more efficient to waste a big box than to store many more sizes of boxes ... there's not a lot more paper in that one than there would be in a closer fit ... simply a lot more space.
