happy birthday to the small boy!!

i have a totally unrelated question, i am just starting down the IUI/IVF road and I am desperate to find out what exactly is covered under Lamal in Switzerland. My dr referred me to the fertility specialist today and said something like it depends on the amount of time you try it for (???) can you give me any advice or point me to the webpage that says it in plain English (or French, or German). Thank you!

Sara - the info I have isn't in writing, I basically trusted my OB/GYN - I'll see if I can find something official, but my understanding is that *nothing* is covered until you have been trying "naturally" for a year without success (like anybody could prove that one way or ther other?). Most insurance will then cover the standard battery of fertility testing for both partners and more simple treatments like Clomid cycles to trigger ovulation or IUIs are generally covered. As of now, it's my understanding that nobody covers anything for full-out IVF. My insurance did not even cover the cost of the progesterone support for the first trimester, because the pregnancy was acheived via IVF. A friend of mine who got pregnant via sex but needed progesterone support got insurance coverage. Hrumph.

There is some information at Kinderwunsch
http://www.kinderwunsch.ch/index.html
under the "Infoline" section.

Best of luck, and I'm not a fountain of information but I'll always try to share whatever I can!

ahh maybe that is what he meant by amount of time!

thank you so much for replying. i guess we will start with IUI in any case and hope that works, that seems quite unfair that they didn't cover the progesterone!
